Botox in Baltimore

Smiling, frowning, squinting, and chewing can create one of the most common signs of aging: wrinkles

Wrinkles can create a tired, or sometimes an angry appearance to your face even if you are in the best or freshest of moods. To reduce these lines, men and women turn to Botox injections. Botox Cosmetic, in Baltimore, Maryland, is most typically used to smooth wrinkles between the brows, crows-feet around the eyes, and horizontal forehead creases.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox Cosmetic?

Considering Botox? By learning more about the benefits of Botox, you can make an informed decision and see if it is right for you. Botox is a dermal filler used by many plastic surgeons to remedy moderate to light wrinkling in the face.

Botox Cosmetic may be a good option for you if you struggle with the following signs of aging:

  • Deep lines between your eyes
  • Normal facial expressions causing excessive wrinkling in the eyes and forehead.
  • Asymmetry in your eyebrows or face that can be corrected by relaxing a muscle.

In addition to correcting existing wrinkles and lines, Botox can also deter new problem areas from forming. Patients considering Botox should also understand what Botox does not do. Botox does not remove pigment spots, acne scars, or rough patches of skin. For these symptoms, you may choose to combine Botox with other effective forms of treatment.

What Can You Expect From Botox?

Botox Cosmetic injections usually take less than 15 minutes. The amount of Botox Cosmetic you will need depends on multiple factors. By examining your facial features and the extent of your wrinkling, Dr. Birely can determine the most suitable amount and best locations for your injections. Crow’s feet, for example, usually demand two to three injections. Furrows above your brow could take five or more.

Botox treatments are non-invasive: no anesthesia is required. However, Dr. Birely and staff will provide numbing cream if desired. Each Botox injection will be administered to a predetermined muscle group. Patients’ muscles are weakened and the localized skin appears more taut and smooth.

How Long is Recovery After a Botox Cosmetic Treatment?

Botox Cosmetic is a minimally invasive procedure. As a result, Baltimore patients can expect to return to their routine immediately after an appointment. Side effects of Botox are also minimal. Patients will experience some swelling and or redness near the injection sites.

Botox Cosmetic provides an aesthetic amplifier for your face. The smoother, tauter look to your skin may take some time to appear. Patients may notice results within a few days, or by the end of the first week.

How Long Does Botox Cosmetic Last?

For patients in the Baltimore area, a wrinkle free face may improve self-esteem. But, for how long does this feeling last? Like most dermal fillers, the results of Botox are not permanent. Depending on each individual, and the amount of Botox administered, results will vary. Typically patients results last anywhere from three to four months. To extend effects, patients can schedule follow up treatments. Patients are encouraged to call or visit Dr. Birely’s office, located conveniently within driving distance of the Lutherville and Bel Air districts.
