Sculptra BaltimoreArtistry In Plastic Surgery

Many residents in Baltimore, Maryland desire a new, more aesthetic look to their face.

Of the possible solutions, they turn to dermal fillers. These fillers work to reduce wrinkles and undesired facial lines. Some fillers may provide quick results, but do not last for a long period of time. For those looking for a more long lasting option, Sculptra® Aesthetic may help. Sculptra is the first facial injectable giving you subtle results over time. By replacing lost collagen, it gives you a more natural-looking appearance. A full treatment of Sculptra with Dr. Birely, a top provider of Sculptra Baltimore has to offer can last more than two years. This is with an average of three injection sessions over a few months.

What Is Sculptra?

Sculptra® Aesthetic targets the underlying causes of facial aging. It begins to work within the deep dermis, where the skin is most structured. Sculptra Aesthetic improves structure by replacing lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores facial volume. Sculptra Aesthetic works differently from other fillers as it gradually and subtly corrects facial wrinkles and folds.

How Well Does Sculptra Work?

After your treatment in Dr. Birely’s Bel Air office, you may not notice drastic results immediately. Sculptra Aesthetic works to gradually and subtly replace lost collagen in a series of treatments. On average, three injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months to produce noticeable results. These results usually will emerge subtly as the collagen is reinvigorated in your face. How Long is Recovery From Sculptra?

After treatment, patients may experience some side effects. You can count on Dr. Birely to inform you of these side effects before your treatment; he will also warn you about signs of infection. Typically, patients may notice the following symptoms:

  • Swelling or bruising around the injection site
  • Red coloration to the affected skin
  • Soreness, or tender areas of the skin

The symptom associated with treatment are typically mild in severity and last less than seven days. Once these begin to fade, you can begin noticing your results. More on Sculptra: Targeting the Source

As established above, as we age, the skin loses collagen. Collagen is a critical component in the skin, bringing structure and support. This support is critical, as it creates the “scaffold” for both elastin and hyaluronic acid – those elements that keep our skin plump, soft, and flexible. Elastin helps the skin retain shape, and hyaluronic acid helps keep the skin hydrated. As the collagen diminishes, these important elements also fade, and the facial skin begins to sag, wrinkle, and crease.

The Baltimore Sculptra Difference

Sculptra is made up of an important acid called poly-L-lactic. This acid has the unique ability to rebuild lost collagen, naturally. Nothing looks more natural than what your skin can do when the collagen production is stimulated. Your skin becomes softer, more flexible, and fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed and less visible. It can improve the appearance of shallow or deep wrinkles, folds, and creases that make your face look old and tired.

Sculptra is often the appropriate anti-aging treatment for various facial areas, including:

  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Lines that frame your lip area (marionette lines)
  • Wrinkles in the chin area

Collagen Creams, Yes or No?

Unfortunately, topical creams containing collagen may not produce the results promised. The collagen molecules in most topical products are too large to enter the deeper layers of the skin. If you have tried product after product and still see your facial skin beginning to sag, crease, and wrinkle, Sculptra treatments offer real hope. While keeping your face hydrated with a high-quality moisturizer is always important, the ability to stimulate natural collagen production is a truly effective way to restore a more youthful texture, flexibility, and firmness to your facial skin.

How PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) Works

Rather than a cream applied to the face, or a filler to plump up and smooth lines and wrinkles, Sculptra works from deep within the skin structure to revitalize collagen production. Made of PLLA microparticles that are slowly absorbed into the skin structure, Sculptra helps to rebuild and restore collagen strands, and restore skin volume by getting your own skin to do all the work. In fact, Sculptra is one of the most effective, innovative products released and approved by the FDA in recent years – and you can take advantage of it with the help of Dr. Brent Birely and his staff.

The Treatment: What to Expect with Sculptra

The first step is having a topical anesthetic applied to the facial area to make the treatment more comfortable. After your skin is numbed, a tiny needle is inserted just beneath the skin surface to inject the product. This procedure is usually easy to tolerate and ordinarily pain-free, involving just a mild “pinch.” The product will be injected into the areas that have shown sagging, wrinkling, creasing and volume loss. Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness at the injection sites is not uncommon, or minor bruising. As the product is made of PLLA and sterile water, the water adds a minimal amount of volume after injection, which will diminish through natural absorption in about two days. As it takes time for your body to produce more collagen strands, the results produced by the product may take a little time, but are completely natural in appearance – after all, it is your own body doing the work, with a little help from Sculptra.
