What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a safe and highly-effective FDA-approved skin remodeling treatment. Microneedling uses an innovative way to trigger your own body’s cells to refresh and revitalize the skin, minimize acne scarring, reduce the size of large pores, tighten the skin, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

A microneedling treatment involves a device equipped with superfine, micro-sized needles. The needles create very tiny punctures in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate your body to procedure collagen and elastin–the building blocks for firm, youthful, stronger, and more beautiful skin.

What should I expect during a microneedling treatment?

A microneedling treatment begins with applying a numbing cream to your skin to minimize discomfort. The treatment is not generally described as painful, but we do want to ensure your experience feels gentle and relaxing.

A microneedling treatment generally takes 20-30 minutes.

A device with a number of tiny needles will then be passed over the targeted treatment area, applying the needles to the skin and creating many micro injuries carefully to its surface. The treatment increases circulation, which makes the skin more healthy and youthful-looking. Meanwhile, underneath the skin, the micro-injuries trigger the production of collagen and elastin, which jumpstarts the natural healing process of your body and thus creates new, healthier, firmer, and stronger skin.

Microneedling provides a number of benefits and is suitable for all types, colors, and textures of skin. Benefits include the following:

  • Safe, minimally invasive, non-surgical rejuvenation treatment

  • Tightens and firms the skin
  • Short procedure time
  • No downtime

What skin concerns does microneedling improve?

Microneedling can be done almost anywhere on the body. Common treatment areas include the face and neck, chest or décolletage, buttocks, abdomen, and hands. Skin concerns effectively treated with microneedling include the following:

  • uneven skin tone and texture
  • dull, aging skin
  • pigmentation problems
  • large pores
  • acne scars or other minor scars on the skin
  • stretch marks
  • skin laxity
  • fine lines and wrinkles

After a microneedling treatment, the results are effective and in many cases dramatic. Microneedling smoothes wrinkles, minimizes the size of pores, and provides toned, radiant, glowing skin. Because these results are achieved naturally from the body’s own These results come naturally as the body’s own regeneration system rebuilds and provides a stronger structure with collagen and elastin.

You may see some immediate improvement, but your skin will continue to improve over the next 4-6 weeks. During this time, your full results will become more and more apparent. Your skin will appear tighter, smoother, more youthful, and supple. The final results from microneedling last from three to five months.

Recovery after microneedling in Baltimore

Recovery after microneedling is quite minimal. Your skin will take about a day to heal after microneedling. You will experience a feeling similar to a mild sunburn, which lasts for 1-2 days. You can wear makeup within one day of your treatment, and you may return to work or school after your treatment is complete. There is no downtime or recovery period to worry about. However, you should apply sunscreen regularly, stay out of the sun, and not tan for the next two weeks.
